Domaine Joliet

13 Rue de la Perrière, 21220 Fixin, France

Our history

Established in 1142 by the monks of Cîteaux, the Manoir de la Perrière and its 5 hectares of vineyards now form the Clos de la Perrière. The almost millennial Domaine Joliet has been a family tradition since 1853, passed down from father to son and now, for the seventh generation, from father to daughter. One of the few Cistercian Clos still in monopoly, its wines have been vinified and aged in the same cellars for nearly 900 years. The vineyard, divided into two distinct parts, produces Fixin Premier Cru white and red wines. To diversify the range and offer exceptional table wines, the family established Maison Joliet, a wine trading house, two years ago. This allows them to provide a varied selection of high-quality wines.

This visit begins with a presentation of the Estate, its history, and a brief overview of our cultural techniques in our vineyards in front of the 12th-century Manor of La Perrière. Then, we will descend into the cellars of the Manor, also from the 12th century, where we will taste all our wines available for sale: generally, 4 wines from FIXIN 1er Cru "Clos de la Perrière" and others (premium tasting from 15 to 85 Euros per bottle). I will personally comment on this tasting by explaining our main oenological techniques, the different Burgundy appellations, and tasting techniques. All questions are welcome, from the simplest to the most technically sophisticated: a personalized welcome. We will conclude with a visit to the Cîteaux Monks' Pressoir, from the 12th century.

Visite & Dégustation

domains

Discover Domaine Joliet through a fun and educational workshop, open to all without any prior knowledge required. This workshop offers an introduction to tasting techniques to discover and deepen your knowledge with Domaine Joliet. The workshop begins with a presentation of the estate and its history at the heart of the Clos de la Perrière vineyards. You will learn about the history of the Cîteaux monks and their influence on this part of Burgundy, as well as information on climates, appellations, terroir, and vine cultivation. Next, you will descend into the Cistercian cellars, built in 1142, for a tasting session. In this unique setting, you will taste five wines from Domaine and Maison Joliet. The workshop will focus on identifying differences between vintages, appellations, and especially terroirs, providing a sensory experience to identify aromas and colors. Finally, you will discover a Cistercian wine press in a second room of the cellar, a historical representation of the evolution of winemaking in Burgundy. This moment will allow you to interact with members of the estate and, if you wish, to leave with products from Domaine and Maison Joliet.
