Our history
Located in Ladoix, on the southern edge of the Côte de Nuits, in the northern part of the Côte de Beaune (Chorey, Savigny, Aloxe-Corton and Ladoix), the Edmond Cornu et Fils estate is a family estate of approximately 16 ha of vines, whose production is mainly red with 14 ha of Pinot Noir, 1.5 ha of Chardonnay and 0.75 ha of Aligoté. Pierre, Edith his wife and Emmanuel his cousin manage the estate. As for Edmond, now retired, he provides valuable support with his numerous advice and helping hands. In 2020, it was Lucie, the daughter of Edith and Pierre, who, after her studies at the Beaune wine high school and the Vine and Wine Institute in Bordeaux, joined the estate, bringing with her her knowledge acquired his experiences in France (Champagne, Rhône Valley, Provence) and abroad (New Zealand, South Africa and Oregon).
Over time the field has evolved to adapt to different economic, technical and social constraints. Thus, for many years he has been considerably involved in the marketing of the harvest, in bottles (100%), through numerous investments (equipment, materials, buildings, commercial structure, etc.).
The estate, involved in integrated control, and respectful of the environment, plants and people, was qualified under Sustainable Agriculture in 2007. It obtained Environmental Certification in 2011 and is certified “High Environmental Value” in 2019. The estate is engaged in long-term sustainable management work. It is a philosophy in which the production of high quality, healthy and ripe grapes is possible thanks to the development of the vine which is done in harmony with the environment in which it lives (flora and fauna). So and with this in mind, there is no need for artifice in winemaking, it is the quality of the grapes which is most important to obtain quality wines with a great personality.
